A new article by Hod Ben Zvi, Chair of UPF-Israel, reflects on the September 28 gathering at the Jerusalem Theatre and the launch of IAACP’s activities in Israel.

The Universal Peace Federation has published a new article by Hod Ben Zvi, Chair of UPF-Israel, highlighting the significance of the “Art for Peace” gathering held at the Jerusalem Theatre on September 28, 2026.

The event, organized by UPF-Israel and the International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP), marked the first official IAACP program held in Israel and introduced a new chapter of cultural activity under the leadership of Miriam Jaskierowicz Arman, Official Representative of IAACP and Ambassador for Peace.

Centered on the theme “Listening and Connecting to Your Inner Voice,” the evening brought together art, personal testimony, spirituality and a broader vision of culture as a means of building understanding between people.

Art as a Bridge for Peace

In his article, Hod Ben Zvi reflects on Miriam’s life story and on the way personal memory has shaped her artistic language.

Born in post-war Germany to parents who survived the Holocaust, Miriam’s creative journey has been deeply influenced by memory, loss, resilience and the search for meaning. Her work encompasses visual art, poetry, writing, vocal pedagogy and cultural initiatives, yet these different forms of expression are connected by a common source.

Ben Zvi presented this personal and artistic journey as especially relevant to the mission of IAACP: using art and culture not merely as forms of expression, but as practical instruments for dialogue, healing and peace.

He emphasized that the establishment of IAACP activities in Israel represents an opportunity to bring together artists, educators, cultural leaders and peace advocates around a shared human language that can reach beyond political and national boundaries.

Listening to the Inner Voice

Following the opening remarks, Miriam delivered the keynote presentation, “Listening and Connecting to Your Inner Voice.”

During the lecture, she spoke about experiences from her childhood in post-war Germany and the long personal journey that shaped her understanding of creativity, voice and spiritual purpose.

For Miriam, the “inner voice” is not limited to singing or spoken expression. It is the deeper source from which her different fields of work emerge.

Her work as a vocal pedagogue, author, poet and visual artist — including her development of Three-Dimensional Glass Fusion, is rooted in the belief that authentic creative expression begins when a person learns to listen inwardly.

This idea has accompanied Miriam throughout decades of teaching and artistic work across different countries and cultures.

A New Beginning for IAACP in Israel

The Jerusalem gathering was significant not only as an artistic event, but also as the beginning of IAACP’s formal activity in Israel.

The International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace is part of the Universal Peace Federation’s international network of associations and initiatives. Its purpose is to bring together artists and cultural figures who believe that creativity can contribute to dialogue, human connection and a culture of peace.

The September 28 event therefore represented both a personal milestone for Miriam and an institutional milestone for IAACP in Israel.

The message that emerged from the evening was simple but powerful: peace is not only something negotiated between institutions or governments. It can also begin within the individual — through listening, creativity, empathy and the willingness to connect with others.

For Miriam Jaskierowicz Arman, this relationship between the inner voice and the wider world remains at the center of her work.

As her activities in Israel continue to develop, the Jerusalem event stands as an important first step in a broader vision: bringing together art, culture and human connection in the service of peace.
